Nature Photography from the Southern Appalachian Highlands

The eastern United States holds a natural treasure that many take for granted. The landscape today looks much different than it did ages ago, when the Appalachian Mountains towered to heights approaching that of the modern-day Himalayas. Today, the world's oldest mountains are much less formidable but are no less breathtaking. Diverse landscapes and wildlife have inspired photography and art in general for many years. Jeff White lives in northeastern Tennessee, the heart of what has come to be known as the Appalachian Highlands. While you will find photographs on this site from other parts of the country and the world, the vast majority of Jeff's work focuses on the region of the country where he has lived and been inspired throughout his life.
